Just in time for the start of summer, the popular Schwussnerhütte
in the Seebach Valley reopened its doors today. For many guests of Apartments Hohenberger and Mallnitz-visitors, it is a real focal point of their summer retreat in Mallnitz – a destination that combines pleasure hiking in the Hohe Tauern National Park and hut culture.
Open: Daily in July, August, and September
As you can see from the image above, the Schwussnerhütte will be open daily during the peak season in July, August, and September 2026. It is located in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, nestled in the impressive scenery of the Seebachtal valley.
With regional delicacies, homemade pastries (our tip: blueberry sweet omelet) and an airy terrace, the Schwussnerhütte is the perfect place to eat, take a breath and enjoy.

We spent a week in the apartments during our 2022 vacation. The apartments are renovated, clean, and in a cool local style. Great location, off the beaten path and in a really quiet place. Close to hiking trails, the swimming pool, and the local history museum. The owner made sure we had plenty to do. He gave us a lot of useful information about local events and attractions. We were really well taken care of. It’s also a good option to take the train to Bad Gastein to visit the thermal baths. A wonderful place! Additionally, there’s a GoPass system for skiers, so you can expect discounts.
