Pro Musica Mallnitz also builds on the tradition of the "classic summer retreat", which has always been characterized not only by mountain freshness in nature, recreation and relaxation, but also by sophisticated and cultivated "entertainment" and cultural discourse.

The mountaineering village of Mallnitz once again combines the breathtaking backdrop of nature in the Hohe Tauern National Parkthe special atmosphere and acoustic quality of the Mallnitz parish church with the high artistic skills and standards of the guest musicians to create a unique musical experience. In 2023, the Pro Musica Mallnitz concerts will continue to inspire connoisseurs of classical music, in the spirit of a summer retreat of yesteryear – culture and nature.

The “Pro Musica Mallnitz” project appeals to Carinthians and culture-loving guests alike. For them, Pro Musica Mallnitz is organizing 11 concerts from mid-July to mid-September for the 2024 summer retreat.

This season, the Pro Musica Mallnitz association has once again succeeded in offering a musical and artistic program of great variety and quality for the people of Mallnitz and all those who spend their vacations in Mallnitz.

Program Pro Musica Winter 2024-2025

In addition to the highly esteemed musical “regulars” from the ranks of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (Rainer Küchl, Harald Krumpöck, etc.) and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (Johannes Pflegerl), this summer’s focus is also on the presentation of highly talented young musicians. With the “Camerata Prima Wien“, a chamber orchestra consisting of prizewinners from the most important Austrian youth competitions, will perform. The Minetti Quartet, an up-and-coming young string quartet, and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian will once again be performing with top-class Austrian artists.

Ticket prices for the Pro Musica Mallnitz concerts start at € 18 in advance and can be purchased at the Info and Booking Center Mallnitz at the BIOS National Park Center, the Raiffeisenbank Mallnitz and the Info and Booking Center Obervellach.

Impressions - a look back at 2023

On Saturday, July 29, 2023, the 18th National Park Festival kicked off at 11:45 am at theMallnitz-Obervellach InterCity train station with the presentation of the Destination Nature National Park locomotive.

from 15:00 the Ankogler, the Hüttenkogler and the Palfnmusi walk through the mountaineering village
at 18:00 the Biertischmusi will be live on the village square

Numerous guests of honor from near and far are expected at the presentation of the Destination Nature National Park locomotive at 11:45 a.m. (according to the timetable) at the barrier-free InterCity stationMallnitz-Obervellach .

At 13:00, the ceremony begins in the town center with a concert by the Mallnitz traditional band.

The entire mountaineering village of Mallnitz will be converted into a pedestrian zone – offering plenty of space to celebrate. Numerous clubs and restaurateurs provide a wide range of offers and good entertainment with their stands.

The Ankogler, Hüttenkogler and Palfnmusi folk dance groups wander through the village and delight visitors with their musical and cultural performances.

The Biertisch-Musi from Bavaria plays from 18:00 at the village square and DJ Lukas heats things up again at 21:30.

There is also plenty on offer for our little ones: Handicrafts with Tumpfi, pony riding, llama hiking with the Tauernlamas.

Come to the 18th National Park Festival if you are not already on vacation in Mallnitz and experience the tradition in the mountaineering village – also an excellent idea your climate ticket and visit one or two Kärnten Card destinations in Mallnitz. There is a large parking lot at the train station and the Bachpromenade is an idyllic path to the center of Mallnitz, ~1 km away.

With the “Camerata prima Wien” (17.8., 19.8.), a chamber orchestra consisting of prizewinners from the most important Austrian youth competitions will be performing. The Minetti Quartet (3.8.), an up-and-coming young string quartet, and Emmanuel Tjeknavorian (25.8.) are particularly high-caliber Austrian artists on the verge of a major international career.
